The architect who designed it
is the one who sees it through.

Roger Berent Architects is a one-principal practice in Michigan. No teams. No hand-offs. Every design decision, every site visit, every phone call — one architect, from first sketch to final detail.

I don't have a house style.
I have a way of listening.

Twenty-Five Years

Most firms hand you off after the pitch.

I never leave the room.

I've been designing buildings in Michigan for twenty-five years. Long enough to know that the best architecture doesn't come from bigger teams or fancier software. It comes from one person who understands the whole picture — and won't let any detail slip.

Every call. Every meeting. Every site visit at 7 a.m. when the flashing details matter and nobody else wants to argue about them. That's me. That's the practice.

I'm selective about what I take on. When it's the right fit, you get someone who treats your project like it's the only one — because most of the time, it nearly is.

We interviewed four firms. Roger was the only one where the person in the meeting was the same person who'd be drawing our house. That was it. Decision made.
